From Thai Nguyen to South Korea: Two ICTU Students Conquer Thousand-Dollar Scholarships

From the lecture halls of Thai Nguyen, two students from the University of Information and Communication Technology (ICTU) have successfully conquered an international exchange scholarship worth $2,667 to study at Kyungpook National University (KNU) in South Korea.

Nguyen Van An and Nguyen Đức Mạnh—students from the K23 Software Engineering international joint program—surpassed a rigorous selection process with high academic and English proficiency requirements to earn full-tuition scholarships for one semester.

A Global Stepping Stone

According to the plan, from March to June 2026, the two students will study in South Korea and will have their academic results fully recognized upon returning to ICTU. This experience is not only an opportunity to access an international academic environment but also a vital springboard for students to develop comprehensively in the context of global integration.

This achievement continues the impressive track record of ICTU students in international exchange programs. Previously, in 2024, student Nguyen Minh Hieu (K21) also won a scholarship worth 3 million won at Kyungpook, inspiring future generations of students.

The Role of the Institute of International Training (IIT)

Behind these results is the guidance and support of the Institute of International Training (IIT)—the pioneer unit in implementing international joint training programs at ICTU.

The IIT does more than just build international-standard academic pathways:

  • It actively connects and expands partner networks.
  • It creates favorable conditions for students to participate in exchange programs, study, and gain experiences in many countries.

About the Joint Program

The Software Engineering program linked between ICTU and Kyungpook National University is designed using the 3+1 model:

  • It is taught entirely in English with the participation of faculty from both universities.
  • After four years, students have the opportunity to receive dual international degrees.
  • Students can continue their pathway to earn a Master’s degree in a shortened timeframe of just one year.

Promoting these international exchange programs is reaffirming ICTU’s commitment to internationalization while opening many opportunities for students to confidently step into the global learning and working environment.
