ICTU WELCOMES AND HOLDS WORKING SESSION WITH KYUNGPOOK NATIONAL UNIVERSITY (KNU) DELEGATION
On March 4th, 2026, the University of Information and Communication Technology (ICTU) officially welcomed and held a working session with a high-level delegation from Kyungpook National University (KNU), South Korea. The meeting marked a significant milestone in strengthening international cooperation, focusing on joint undergraduate and graduate training programs.
Strengthening Strategic Partnerships
The meeting took place in Meeting Room No. 03 – C1 with the participation of key leaders from both institutions:
- From KNU: Dr. Young-Woo Heo – President, along with deans and international partnership managers.
- From Thai Nguyen University (TNU) & ICTU: Dr. Nguyen Van Tao – Secretary of the Party Committee of TNU; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phung Trung Nghia – ICTU Rector, and representatives from relevant departments.
- From the Institute of International Training (IIT): Dr. Nguyen Thi Mai Phuong – Director, Dr. Tran Thi Xuan – Deputy Director attended to discuss the management of English-taught programs.
Key Collaborative Programs and Agreements
During the session, both parties discussed and implemented several key initiatives aimed at providing world-class international education opportunities for ICTU students:
- Accelerated Master’s Program (AMP)
A highlight of the meeting was the signing ceremony for the Accelerated Master’s Program (3+2) in Computer Science and Engineering. This program allows qualified ICTU students to:
- Transition to KNU after completing at least one year of undergraduate study at ICTU.
- Be admitted directly into the Master’s degree program at KNU’s Graduate School without a separate external admission procedure, provided they maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.3 or higher.
- Boosting the 3+1 E-commerce Twinning Program
Both sides engaged in deep discussions regarding the 3+1 twinning program for E-commerce. This strategic program, co-managed by the Institute of International Training, is designed to give students access to a global education environment in South Korea.
A Vision for Internationalizing Education
Leaders from both universities expressed high confidence in their enduring partnership. As the unit responsible for managing English-taught and international twinning programs, the Institute of International Training (IIT) remains committed to serving as a bridge for ICTU students, supporting them with applications and academic preparation for exchange and transfer programs at KNU.
The event concluded successfully with a gift-giving ceremony and a formal dinner, opening up vast opportunities for further cooperation between Thai Nguyen University and Kyungpook National University.
